‘A Taste Of Tango’ – Thurs 4 July

A Taste of Tango
Thursday 4 July, 7:30 to 9:30pm
Martlesham Community Hall

Have you ever wanted to dance Argentine Tango?
A Taste of Tango’
on Thursday 4th July is your opportunity to join us and take your first steps in Argentine Tango. Richard and Mandy of Suffolk Tango will teach you some of the basics, and show you how to lead or follow this improvised dance (no long sequences to learn).

During the break, relax and we will tell you a little about the origins of social tango and what makes it so special throughout the world. Our more experienced dancers will be on hand to help, to demonstrate and to dance with you.

‘A Taste of Tango’ starts at 7:30pm at Martlesham Community Hall (behind Tescos).   This is a short walk from the Route 66 bus stop at Tescos.  There is also plenty of free parking.  We are keen to encourage more people to try Argentine Tango so the evening is totally free and we hope you may want to join our next beginners course in September.

Suffolk Tango is a non-profit group whose aim is to encourage and develop Argentine Tango dancing in Suffolk.  Our current dancers are of all ages, some coming with a background of other dance but most have had no previous dance experience.  Dance has proven benefits for health and well-being.  Once you try Argentine Tango we hope that you will soon get hooked and want to come to the many classes and events that we run.

Prior booking essential.

To give you an example of this social dance this video shows one of our very popular guest teachers, Gabriela Fernandez from Buenos Aires doing a demonstration to a group of her students in France.

What to wear?  Wear any relaxed comfortable clothes. Any smooth soled shoe is fine as your feet need to pivot on the floor. but not anything which is too grippy (eg trainers).

In order to have equal numbers of leaders and followers at the taster session we are asking you to book with a partner.  (Within our normal classes and social events you don’t need to come with a partner and we encourage you to dance with a range of people as this is more fun and also speeds the learning process).

Directions to the Martlesham Community Hall, IP12 4PB.  The hall is just behind Tescos near BT on the A12 on the old road from Woodbridge to BT.  Route 66 buses run frequently to Tescos and the hall is just a short walk.  There is also plenty of free parking.
