Welcome to Suffolk Tango
Suffolk Tango is a non-profitmaking organisation, run by volunteers, which aims to promote Argentine Tango in Suffolk. We are an enthusiastic group whose aim is to build an Argentine Tango community in Suffolk. We run social dances (milongas) practice sessions (practicas) and organise teachers to run classes and workshops. Our own local teachers take some of the classes.
If you want to speak to us please see our ‘Contacts Page‘ – we would love to hear from you.
Want to help us run events? Contact one of the committee – we always need extra hands.

Once you dance Argentine Tango you become intoxicated by the music and the special connection with your partner. Argentine Tango is an improvised dance where the man leads according to what he hears in the music, the lady feels as if she were one of the instruments. We mainly dance to the rich music from the Golden Age (1940s) of tango but we also like to include some contemporary music to broaden the appeal.
Here are some views about why Argentine tango is so special (its in English after the first 60 seconds):
We run social dances, called milongas once a month at East Bergholt and also at other venues in the county. Please come along – they are very friendly.
In recent years we have run classes in Kesgrave, Ipswich and East Bergholt, we also ran milongas (tango dance nights) in Stratford St Andrew, East Bergholt and Saxmundham and had regular practicas (practice sessions) in Martlesham. We work closely with adjacent groups in Norfolk, Essex, Diss, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge.
You can start tango even if you have never done any dance before, many people join us after having done Ceroc, salsa, ballroom, swing, zumba, kizomba, bachata or latin. In any case you will discover a dance like no other which will grow on you and hook you into its embrace. Click here for details of new beginner classes.
